Photography at Hampi [1] [2] [3]
Photography by John Gollings:
Photography has been a crucial part of contemporary archeological of documentation at Hampi.
John Gollings joined Vijayanagara Research Project’s fieldwork seasons six times and has made many more independent visits over 25 years.
Currently some 10,000 of black and white and colour Gollings’ images have been classified in a main
archaeological database, together with appropriate map references. This archive is housed in the Gollings studio in Melbourne.
Selected from over 100,000 images, a group of 50 images were chosen for Ancient Hampi and represent the apex of John Gollings extraordinary photographic skill. Returning to the site over a 25 year period, Hampi provides an endless place of inspiration.
